About

My name is Jessica and I’m a wife, mother, and recent convert to Roman Catholicism living in the Midwestern US. This blog explores the richness of Catholic traditions and spirituality, the natural world, books, music, poetry, and writing. If you’d like to learn about my conversion story, start here.

“Waiting for Water” is inspired by a poem bearing the same name which delves into my journey from an atheist, to pantheist, to a catechumen pacing the shore of Lake Michigan.

It should go without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) that if anything in this blog contradicts the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, obviously I am in error through my own ignorance or misunderstanding of doctrine. I am only just learning, so please turn to sources such as the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Bible, The US Conference of Catholic Bishops, RCIA/OCIA (for more info about OCIA, check out How to Become Catholic from Catholic Answers.org), or your parish priest & catechists if you are seeking education in Church teaching or the process of becoming Catholic.

My goal with this blog is not to teach you, but to walk with you- whether you’re a cradle Catholic with an advanced degree in theology, a newly baptized still leaving wet footprints on the ground, or a Catholic curious person wondering what it means to become Catholic. I hope you will see something in my journey that speaks to your own.
